SAMAYA INSPIRE2

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: VESTIBULES & LIGHT POCKETS

To mark Samaya 's entry into the 3-season segment, Product Development & Marketing Manager Adrien Guillon tells us all about the details that set this tent apart from the rest.

Attention to detail is the hallmark of Samaya. At Samaya INSPIRE2, where is it particularly evident?
Adrien Guillon: Attention to detail is present in every product Samaya. It's an aspect of product development that's primordial for us, even obsessive! In the case of the Samaya INSPIRE2, this can be seen, for example, in the vestibules. We have equipped the tent with a removable vestibule on each side for maximum versatility and functionality. In terms of comfort, this configuration means that you can see the sunset in the evening by removing one vestibule, and the sunrise in the morning by removing the other.

What special features do these vestibules have?
AG: The vestibules are zipped, both for perfect watertightness and for ease of handling. It's a matter of putting on 3 zips, like a zipper, to facilitate assembly, while maintaining the highest level of finish. The removable vestibule must remain waterproof, lightweight, compact and durable. We therefore chose 10-denier nylon, i.e. 10 grams for 9 km of thread, to meet these criteria. We also opted for different colored vestibules, to accentuate the differentiation between our 3-season and 4-season products, both visually and technically.

If you had to choose another example, which one would you like to share?
AG: If I had to choose another detail, it would be the "light pockets" at the two inner ends of the Samaya INSPIRE2. We wanted the light from a headlamp to be diffused evenly throughout the interior of the tent, whether at night or in the early hours of the morning, to make bivouac life more pleasant and comfortable. To achieve this, we tested a whole range of different colors, to find the specific nylon that would best diffuse the light.

Do you have any more details to share with us?
AG: Always! If we look in detail, we've placed small patches at the corners of each of these pockets, on the seams, to secure these pockets and ensure their durability. These patches are then glued to the membrane, so that when the pockets are stressed and stretched, they don't pull directly on the seam value, at the risk of tearing the tape and hampering the tent's waterproofing. On the contrary, it pulls directly on the patch, so the tape remains intact and water can't seep in, increasing the product's durability despite repeated use. If you look closely, you'll see that these patches are also present in every corner of the tent. That's what having a passion for detail means: it's never-ending!
